Syrian Cabinet approved Bills on Supporting Agriculture and Real-Estate Sectors

(Dp-news - Sana)

DAMASCUS- During its session that was chaired by PM Dr. Adel Safar on Tuesday, the Syrian Cabinet decided to postpone collecting due debts from farmers and ensuing interest and fines until the 2011-2012 winter crops are marketed.

The Cabinet also passed a bill on developing organic agriculture, in addition to a bill on establishing and licensing real-estate funding companies and a bill on regulating real-estate appraisal.

In statement to journalists after the meeting, Minister of Agriculture Riyad Hijab said that the bill on organic agriculture, which was prepared in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), comes as a result of the growing demand on organic products, adding that it will help protect consumers and increase production.

For his part, Minister of Finance Mohammad al-Jleilati said that the bills on real-estate aim at regulating this sector, with the bill on establishing real-estate funding companies serving to revitalize investments and divert savings into the construction and real-estate sector.
