DAMASCUS- President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday receives letter from Iranian President included a call to attend the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran next September.
The letter was delivered by the Iranian President's Special Envoy, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Reza Taqipour.
Minister Taqipour conveyed to President al-Assad a letter from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran including an invitation to attend the conference of the Non-Aligned Movement countries due to be held in Tehran next September.
During a meeting with Iranian President's Special Envoy, President al-Assad stressed that Syria has succeeded to overcome the pressures and challenges that faced it since years and is able to get out of this crisis thanks to its people's steadfastness and adherence to its unity and independence.
For his part, Minister Taqipour stressed that what Syria is undergoing comes in the framework of a broader scheme aimed at the entire region.
He also asserted Iran's firm stance in support of the Syrian people in the face of the extraordinary circumstances they are confronted with.
Talks dealt with the situation in Syria. The meeting was attended by Iranian Ambassador in Damascus and the accompanying Iranian delegation.
