Damascus: Explosions rocked Bab Musalla square

(DP-News – Omar alShaar )

Damascus- Explosions rocked Bab Musalla square on Sunday and coupled with heavy gunfire and intensive presence of security forces and several ambulances.

Pro-regime Sham FM reported that "3 Explosions targeted Bab Musalla area."

"Some Casualties were reported after the explosions." it added.

Some opposition groups said that explosions have targeted the HQ of Criminal Security building next to the square, and building was on fire.

The incident was followed by the intensive presence of security forces in the region and the arrival of several ambulance cars into the area.

Reports added that Bab Musalla square have been closed completely for public.

Earlier on Sunday, suicide attack hit the northern Damascus district of Rukn al-Din.

The Syria conflict erupted in March 2011 following a bloody regime crackdown on Arab Spring-inspired democracy protests.

Since then, there have been several spillover attacks in Lebanon involving both sides in Syria, but Wednesday’s army statement was the first of its kind in the nearly 27-month conflict.

Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
The Syrian government keeps telling that West and its regional allies, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants.
