( DP-News - SANA)

DAMASCUS- The National Commission for Network Services (NCNS) has launched the use of Arabic top-level domain name that represents Syria on the internet.

Institutions and individuals can insert their website in Arabic under Syria top-level domain. Using Latin letters in surfing the net opens the door for different alternatives so using Arabic letters in surfing the net will make the access to website much easier. Earlier, Syria has submitted the information applicants to ICANN proving that it has the financial and technical capabilities to run a top-level internet domain .

Several Arab countries got the approval before when ICANN approved to create addresses in letters different from Latin. It allows countries to register the top-level domain of their countries.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is non-profit corporation created in 1998 to assume responsibility for IP address space allocation, protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management, and root server system management functions It is the body that oversees the internet's structure. It makes possible to create hundreds of new top-level domain names. In broad terms, there are three different types of applicant: existing businesses with trademarks; special interest groups; and entrepreneurs looking to build new ventures around domain names.
